The Public Participation Awards Gala is CeRe’s (The Resource Center for Public Participation) annual event, which rewards citizens, civic groups, and organizations that, through their advocacy efforts, bring about change for the good of the communities they represent. The Gala has been a landmark for activism and public participation for 11 years and has awarded no less than 131 public participation initiatives.
The 2022 edition carried the tagline: “Civic Acrobatics,” symbolizing the extraordinary efforts ordinary people make to have their voices heard and bring about radical societal change. For those of us watching from the sidelines, it is a demonstration of strength and determination, but also a display of civic grace and moral courage.
